In his viral video, an employee at Armstrong Garden (@armstronggarden) broke down the steps he swears by.
The green-thumbed pro began by aerating his lawn, which he demonstrated to his viewers.
“This is both satisfying and beneficial! Grass naturally creates a layer of thatch – matted roots, stems, and blades – that can be difficult to penetrate through,” he explained.
He advised his audience to “pop some holes” in their lawns to allow water and fertilizer to soak in.
According to the Instagrammer, this helps to promote deeper, more drought-resistant roots.
Next, he gave his lawn a spring cleaning by removing all the fallen matter and adding an all-natural mulch.
He explained that this move will ensure the grass can receive sunshine and water evenly.
Once he finished this step, he went on to give his grass a mow.
He also used pre-emergent weed control to stop seeds from germinating.
“This is helpful to keep airborne weed seeds from taking root in your lawn,” he said.
The lawn care expert also discussed re-seeding your lawn, explaining that aspiring gardeners have to choose between this step and applying pre-emergent to their grass.
He explained that re-seeding is great for if your lawn seems thin or has some bald spots.
All you have to do is throw seeds down, cover them lightly with topsoil, and keep the ground evenly moist for two weeks.
Finally, he highlighted the important role fertilizer plays in maintaining a perfect lawn.
He described the product as “an essential step to keeping your lawn green all year round.”
How to get rid of weeds
Tony Williams is the Estate Manager at Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens in the UK.
He revealed to The U.S. Sun the best organic remedies for getting rid of weeds.
Two ingredient mix: “Mix four liters of vinegar, 250 grams of salt, and a tablespoon of soap for a potent weed killer,” he said.
Lemon juice: “Whether freshly squeezed or from a bottle, lemon juice is a simple, natural herbicide,” he revealed.
Boiling water: “Pouring boiling water on weeds can kill them instantly without harming nearby plants,” he said.
Diluted rubbing alcohol: “Spray this solution on weeds to induce water loss and effectively kill them,” he said.
Hand-picking: “Focus on removing them early, especially notorious ones like dandelions, to prevent seeds from scattering,” he said.
According to the expert, lawn fertilizer is high in nitrogen, which is the most important nutrient for new, green growth.
Instagram users shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.
“Trust this man with my life, at least my lawn’s life,” wrote one follower.
“Yeah, I am going to run this. Good stuff,” said another impressed viewer.
“Thank you for this. I will be sure to do to my lawn, I appreciate the great advice,” commented a third person.
