Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia presented foreign policy priorities of new government
ArmInfo.The Armenian Cabinet presented the foreign policy priorities of the new government.
According to the new government program for 2017-2022 submitted for
approval to the parliament, the executive body of Armenia will
continue its policy of further strengthening of the external security
of the republic, providing the necessary favorable external
conditions for development, engaging in international and regional
processes, strengthening and developing relations with friendly
countries and partner countries, and practical involvement in the
activities of international organizations. The foreign policy course
will focus on the following steps: the settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by peaceful means, on the fundamental norms
and principles of international law and on the basis of the right of
peoples to self-determination, strengthening the military-political
component of external security; international recognition and
condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the prevention of
new crimes against humanity.
At the same time, it is noted that in bilateral relations, in
particular, activities will be directed: "To further deepen and
expand strategic relations, as well as allied interaction with
Russia; Strengthening friendly partnership with the United States;
Further development and strengthening of bilateral relations with
European states, deepening good-neighborly and mutually beneficial
relations with neighboring Georgia and Iran; Realization of real
steps to strengthen cooperation with the CIS countries; Development
of relations and cooperation with India and China; Continuation of
interaction with traditional partners in the Middle East; Development
of cooperation with the countries of the American continent;
Development of relations and cooperation with the countries of Asia,
Africa and the states of Oceania; Development of the Armenian-Turkish
relations without preconditions ".
At the same time, it is noted that active participation in
cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union will
continue in multilateral relations; Continuous deepening of
cooperation within the CSTO framework; Expansion of partnership with
the European Union; Active participation in cooperation within the
CIS; More active involvement in the work of the UN, OSCE, the Council
of Europe and other international organizations; The deepening of
Armenia's involvement in the activities of the International
Organization of the Francophonie and the proper organization of the
OIF summit in Yerevan in 2018; Continuation of the political dialogue
with NATO and further implementation of the Individual Partnership
Program (IPAP); Active development of cooperation with international
and regional economic and financial structures; Assistance to the
development of parliamentary diplomacy. The importance of protecting
the rights and interests of Armenian citizens in foreign states is
also noted; Rendering assistance to compatriots who found themselves
in emergency situations, including Syrian Armenians; Protection of
the Armenian cultural heritage abroad.
