ASX-listed Resource Generation (Resgen) is finalising the funding approval for the Boikarabelo coal project rail link. The company is busy securing the investment committee and board approval for the nonbinding equity and debt term sheets between its subsidiary Ledjadja Coal and Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund and PAIDF2, under Harith General Partners’ management, for the funding.

Saudi Arabian Mining said its phosphate unit signed an accord with a group of lenders to refinance and reschedule debt worth $4.1-billion. Maaden Waad Al Shamal Phosphate will refinance $2.3-billion owed to a syndicate of commercial banks and financial institutions, according to a statement. It will use $1.8-billion to reschedule debt owed to the Public Investment Fund and transfer it to the Public Pension Agency.

Preliminary materials have been delivered by DRA Global to ASX- and LSE-listed Danakali’s Colluli potash project, in Eritrea. The delivery will enable the identification of focus areas to manage the design and process risks during the detailed design phase. The Colluli Mining Share Company (CMSC) project team is now in the process of reviewing the deliverables.

Aim-listed diamond producer BlueRock Diamonds achieved its target to reach a yearly run rate of 400 000 t and operational profitability through enhanced production at the end of 2019. In a statement on June 22, the producer, which owns and operates the Kareevlei diamond mine in South Africa, announced its audited results for the year ended December 31, 2019.

Vancouver-headquartered Filo Mining on Monday announced several top management changes, including that of a new CEO as Adam Lundin stepped down to take over from his father as chairperson of the board. Jamie Beck, previously president, is now also the CEO. He has been an integral member of the senior management team within the Lundin group for more than a decade, TSX-V-listed Filo said in a statement.

JSE- and TSX-V-listed Buffalo Coal will host its annual general meeting on July 16 by teleconference. Buffalo, led by CEO Emma Oosthuizen, holds a majority interest in two coal mines in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal – Magdalena and Aviemore.

The Minerals Council of Australia (MCA) on Monday unveiled its Climate Action Plan, demonstrating the Australian resources industry’s commitment to decarbonizing the economy and to address climate change. CEO Tania Constable said that the plan outlines how the MCA and its members are taking action on climate change as part of the minerals sector’s collective commitment to the Paris Agreement and its goal of net zero emissions globally and in Australia.

Dual-listed explorer and developer SolGold is restarting its regional exploration programme in Ecuador, following a hiatus of activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic and government restrictions. SolGold has received drilling permits for exploration activities on a number of concessions, including Target 15 (Porvenir), Target 6 (La Hueca) and Cerro Quiroz (Blanca). “Drill rigs and equipment are being mobilised to these projects and teams are back on the ground in preparation for the commencement of scout drilling,” SolGold said on Monday.

Shares in Canada-based junior Silver Dollar Resources surged 32% on Friday, after the company announced a letter of intent (LoI) to acquire First Majestic Silver’s La Joya silver/copper/gold project, in Durango, Mexico. Silver Dollar has the option to earn an initial 80% interest following the exercise of which it may earn an additional 20% for an aggregate 100% interest in the La Joya property, which consists of 15 mineral concessions totalling 4 646 ha.

A slightly weaker Rand helped offset weaker physical and financial coal markets. The rest of the energy complex strengthened slightly, with carbon enjoying a nice rally, which favoured natgas prices. Brazil iron-ore miner Vale said on Friday in a securities filing that its Canadian subsidiary had reached an agreement to sell a 20% stake in the nickel producer PT Vale Indonesia to state-controlled PT Indonesia Asahan (Inalum). Vale's Canadian subsidiary will receive $290-million for the sale, in which Sumitomo Metal Mining is also participating.

Labour unions at Chile's State-owned copper miner Codelco said on Sunday that measures taken by the company against the spread of the novel coronavirus were insufficient and threatened to take steps to force stricter health policies. On Saturday the death of the second Codelco employee from the virus was confirmed, prompting the company to suspend construction projects in northern Chile and take other steps aimed at reducing the circulation of workers.

Chile's State-controlled Codelco copper miner said on Saturday it will suspend construction projects in the northern part of the country and try to maintain production at its Chuquicamata mine while staffing the operation with local personnel. Copper/gold miner Oz Minerals has struck a scheme of arrangement with joint venture partner Cassini Resources that would give it full ownership of the West Musgrave project, in Western Australia. The two companies on Monday announced that Oz Minerals would acquire all the issues capital of Cassini Resources, based on one ne Oz Minerals share for every 68.5 Cassini shares held.
