Responding to reproaches of being involved in the government draft of amendments to the Bulgarian Citizenship Act, envisaging restrictions to the voting right of Bulgarians abroad, President Rumen Radev stated that the head of state does not submit bills, but that this not mean he does not relate to or is not responsible for problems of particular importance to society or national security.

A US strike on a Syrian airbase ordered in retaliation for a suspected chemical weapons attack killed four soldiers on Friday and virtually destroyed its facilities, a monitoring group said, AFP reported.

"An air commodore was among the four soldiers killed," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"The airbase was almost completely destroyed - the runway, the fuel tanks and the air defences were all blown to pieces," the Britain-based monitoring group said.

Two Bulgarian MEPs of the European People's Party/GERB, Mariya Gabriel and Emil Radev, want EU asylum legislation amended so as to reduce migrant pressure on Bulgaria, the GERB party said on its website.

They have introduced proposals to the Dublin Regulation which makes the EU Member State through which an asylum seeker first entered the EU responsible to examine an application for asylum.
