A judge has denied bond for a man charged with murder after a Georgia state trooper died during a vehicular pursuit. Trooper Jimmy Cenescar died after his cruiser left Interstate 85 on Jan. 28 and struck an embankment in the north Atlanta suburb of Suwanee. The Georgia Department of Public Safety says Cenescar was trying to stop a motorcycle for a traffic violation before it fled, prompting the trooper to give chase. Two off-duty police officers in Nebraska’s largest city shot and killed two men in an SUV, though authorities have provided few details about the confrontation. Federal prosecutors say the brother of a man who was the prime suspect in five arsons affecting Jewish institutions in the Boston area has been extradited from Sweden. Alexander Giannakakis was indicted in 2019 on charges that he obstructed authorities investigating his brother in connection with the fires. The brother died in 2020. Alexander Giannakakis was working in security at the U.S. embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, when he was arrested by Swedish authorities in 2022. Police in Colorado say two people have died following a report of an early morning shooting and six injuries in Denver. The Denver Police Department said in a social media post Sunday that the victims' names and cause of death would be released.
