The University of Guelph in Canada now offers an online cannabis cultivation course as part of its horticulture program. Finally! An education you can actually use. Facebook Dating is finally here. The social network launched the feature today in the US and 19 other countries, after announcing it last year at its F8 developer conference. The feature will be available to users above the age of 18 and, for those eligible, will appear as a new tab in the Facebook app. Importantly, you’ll have a separate profile for Facebook Dating, meaning your, uh, activities won’t appear on your family’s newsfeed. To that effect, the internet behemoth is open-sourcing a library that it uses to glean insights from aggregate data in a privacy-preserving manner. Twitter has temporarily suspended the ability to tweet via SMS following high-profile hack of its CEO Jack Dorsey and a number of celebrities. “We’re taking this step because of vulnerabilities that need to be addressed by mobile carriers and our reliance on having a linked phone number for two-factor authentication,” the company said. Apple’s set to release its new crop of iPhones in less than a week. If the last two years are indicators of anything, the company might not sell as many units as it used to do prior to the iPhone X’s release in 2017. However, a report from Nikkei Asian Review suggests, it’s preparing to launch a sub-$400 phone next year to revive sales of its most beloved product. Samsung today revealed its potentially-revolutionary but ever-elusive Galaxy Fold will be available to consumers in Korea September 6, followed by France, Germany, Singapore, the UK., the US, and more. Gears 5, the latest entry in the vaunted Gears of War series, is gearing up for release on Xbox One and PC. I’ve had the chance to spend several hours with the main campaign, and I’ve noticed that, while it’s overall an exceptional game, there is one big caveat I feel needs pointing out. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) today revealed that faulty software and human error were to blame for a recent accident involving Tesla’s “Autopilot”. According to the report, the Tesla’s driver was operating his Model S P85 with the vehicle’s driver-assistance feature turned on. Data obtained by the NTSB shows the driver’s hands hadn’t been on the steering wheel for approximately thirteen minutes before the vehicle collided into a parked fire truck. Another month, another Facebook data breach. As reported by TechCrunch, security researcher Sanyam Jain was able to locate an online database containing phone numbers linked to user IDs for over 419 million Facebook users. While linking phone numbers to user IDs is bad enough, in some cases the data included the user’s real name, gender, and country.
