Oculus this week revealed it’s rolling out a batch of new social features tied to Facebook. Major Dutch bank ING is developing technology so that its clients can safely store digital assets like cryptocurrencies, Reuters reports citing sources familiar with the matter. The firm then told reporters it sees “increasing opportunities” surrounding digital assets, both asset-backed and native security tokens. Cryptocurrency ‘entrepreneurs’ beware: US regulators haven’t forgotten about your dodgy initial coin offering (ICO). The SEC has just charged the head of a crypto startup for allegedly cheating investors out millions of dollars by lying about non-existent partnerships. The New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) wants to update its contentious BitLicense, which regulates cryptocurrency businesses based in or serving customers in the Big Apple. Proposed changes include publishing a list of approved assets on the NYDFS website. Any licensed digital asset provider would be allowed to offer these as long as it notifies the regulator first. Netflix today announced its plan for a scripted series about “Swedish music sensation Spotify.” The series, based on the book Spotify Untold, will focus on the company’s origin story as it rose from European unknown to household name during the heyday of music piracy. “The story of how a small band of Swedish tech industry insiders transformed music — how we listen to it and how it’s made — is truly a tale of our time,” said Berna Levin, executive producer of Yellow Bird, the producers behind the series. Apple must have just reinvented the wheel, considering it’s charging $400 to add a set of four casters to its new Mac Pro. You know, that computer that already starts at $6,000 and can be configured up to a whopping $53,000.
