Man Utd could now battle Tottenham to sign £50m Premier League talent - report
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.
The Red Devils are likely to invest on a new central defender this summer with suggestions that Harry Maguire could head for the exit door.
Napoli’s Kim Min-jae is obviously the prime target but they continue to be linked with a move for Guehi, who is ready for a bigger challenge.
The England international won’t be blocked from leaving Palace at the end of the season. United and Spurs are mentioned as his suitors.
United should prioritise deal for Min-jae
Guehi is currently on the best young centre-backs in the Premier League but the 22-year-old has had plenty of nervous moments this season.
Meanwhile, the youngster has completed only 85 per cent of his passes in the top-flight and has lost possession on 9.5 occasions per outing.
In comparison, Min-jae has a pass completion rate of 91 per cent with Napoli. He has been dispossessed on 8.4 occasions per Serie A appearance.
The South Korean star also possesses a better aerial presence. If United are looking to sign a centre-back, Min-jae should be the priority for them.
While Palace are looking for £50 million to sell Guehi, United could land Min-jae for a similar figure due to a foreign release clause in his contract.
In our view, Min-jae would be the perfect acquisition during the next transfer window. Champions League football could be key to landing him.
United are likely to face strong competition for the 26-year-old with Manchester City among clubs that could enter the race in the coming weeks.
