YouTube just revealed it’s added new age categories to its YouTube Kids app, offering different videos depending on whether the child is preschool or preteen. In theory, anyway — I’m not sure I trust YouTube Kids, of all apps, to be able to make that kind of subtle differentiation. Hundreds of cases of a mysterious lung illness have been reported in the US in just a matter of weeks. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) along with city and state officials across the country urge people to stop vaping nicotine and THC cartridges immediately. Here’s what you need to know: Nearly 200 cases have been reported so far. The illness has widely varying symptoms, but some doctors are calling it a ‘chemical pneumonia.’ The CDC has not finished its initial investigation, the exact cause of the illness is not yet known.

In an extremely short report, Returns noted that Microsoft is going to put its mixed reality headset, HoloLens 2, on sale next month. Amazon’s Ring has finally come clean about its partnership with law enforcement agencies in the US. The doorbell-camera company — which was acquired by the retail giant in February 2018 — disclosed that it has inked deals with 407 agencies to “facilitate conversations around crime and safety among all members of the community.” The count has gone up by two since its announcement yesterday. Authorities in France say they have shut down a cryptocurrency mining botnet that had infected more than 850,000 computers across 100 countries. France‘s “cybergendarmes” or more formally, the C3N digital crime-fighting center was alerted to the potential fact that a server based in Paris had been distributing a virus called Retadup, BBC reports. Despite President Trump’s approval to allow Huawei to resume trade with US companies and extend its temporary license, the company’s troubles are not over/ According to a report by Reuters, the Chinese manufacturer’s upcoming flagships – the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro – will be released without official Google apps on board. Facebook has admitted to a design flaw in Messenger Kids app that allowed young users on the platform to participate in group chats with adults, without their parents’ permission.
