Guatemala's Supreme Court has sent a request to lift President Jimmy Morales' immunity from prosecution to congress for final consideration. Monday's court decision on the request from prosecutors is related to allegations of illegal financing for Morales' 2015 campaign. Investigations have targeted several political parties including his National Convergence Front. Colombia's government and last remaining major rebel group signed a bilateral cease-fire Monday ahead of Pope Francis' visit this week, an agreement seen as a significant step toward negotiating a permanent peace deal. Unknown gunmen in southwestern Pakistan ambushed a security forces' convoy, killing at least three soldiers and injuring three others Monday. Russian media say Egypt has finalized a deal to build a nuclear power plant with funding from Moscow after nearly two years of negotiations.   The reports Monday came after Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China, where they were attending a summit.   The nuclear plant will be built in Dabaa, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) northwest of Cairo on the Mediterranean coast.   Egypt's presidency says el-Sissi has invited Putin to Egypt to mark the start of construction. Millions of school children have failed to show up for the start of the school year in Cameroon's English speaking regions, even after the government freed most of the jailed leaders of anglophone protests. Human Rights Watch is urging the Saudi government to halt its plan to expel hundreds of thousands of Ethiopian immigrants who missed a late August deadline to register or face deportation. Syria said Monday its military forces and their allies are closing in on Deir el-Zour, battling to end the three-year Islamic State control of the oil-rich eastern city near the Iraqi border.
