'Lone Wolf' Suspected in Canada Terror Attack

Canadian police have arrested a man who struck a police officer with a car outside a sports stadium in Edmonton and then repeatedly stabbed the officer before fleeing the scene. The same man later struck four pedestrians with a moving van during a high-speed chase late Saturday. All five victims remain hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Banned Militant Leader Sues Pakistan’s FM for Defamation

A militant group leader in Pakistan is suing the country’s foreign minister for his remarks at an Asia Society event last week in New York. A lawyer representing Hafiz Mohammad Saeed sent a $950,000 (100 million Pakistani Rupee) notice to Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Friday.   “An absolute lie and falsehood that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is one of those persons who had been the darlings of Americans and had been dining and wining in the White House,” Saeed’s lawyer, A.K. U.S. President Donald Trump said he told Secretary of State Rex Tillerson he is "wasting his time" trying to negotiate with North Korea's leader. "Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!" Turkey no longer needs to join the European Union but will not unilaterally abandon the stalled EU accession talks, President Tayyip Erdogan told parliament on Sunday. "We will not be the side which gives up. To tell the truth, we don't need EU membership any more," Erdogan said. Turkey's 12-year-long accession talks have ground to a halt, with the EU especially critical of Ankara's crackdown following a failed coup last year. At Least One Person Killed in Marseille Knife Attack

At least one person was stabbed to death and another seriously wounded at Marseille's main train station in southern France on Sunday, police sources said, in what one of them said was a "terrorist act." The police also confirmed earlier reports that the attacker had been shot and killed. One police source said the man had cried out "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great in Arabic) before attacking the two people.

To mark the International Day of the Older Person, the World Health Organization is calling for a new, integrated approach to meet the health needs of an aging population. By mid-century, the World Health Organization reports one in five people in the world will be aged 60 or older. As people age, it says they are likely to be afflicted with numerous health problems. A Nevada prison official says O.J. Simpson, the former football legend and Hollywood star, has been released from a Nevada prison in Lovelock after serving nine years for armed robbery. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Sunday that Islamic State fighters had seized control of the town of al-Qaryatayn in Homs province, part of a wider counterattack by the jihadists as they resist a fierce offensive in eastern Syria.
