The Senate has passed legislation that would compensate Americans exposed to radiation by the government by renewing a law initially passed more than three decades ago. The bill by Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, a Republican, and New Mexico Sen. Ben Ray Lujan, a Democrat, would expand the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. Prosecutors have arrested two taxi drivers who participated in the beating of two German tourists outside a club in Mexico’s Caribbean coast resort of Playa del Carmen. Prosecutors in coastal state of Quintana Roo said the two drivers were arrested on charges of drug possession, after they were found to be carrying marijuana and cocaine in their taxis. Two Jewish students have filed a federal lawsuit against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A Philadelphia city official arrested during a traffic stop says she started recording because she feared for her husband’s life. LGBTQ+ leader Celena Morrison says she “feared the worst” when the trooper handcuffed him on an elevated highway. Four young males have been indicted and two more were arrested on Thursday in the fatal beating of a teenage boy during a Halloween party in a suburb of Phoenix last year.
