More than half of the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico is still without power, more than seven weeks after Hurricane Maria, a Category 4 storm, devastated the Caribbean island. U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has instructed federal prosecutors “evaluate certain issues” regarding the Obama administration-era approval of a deal that eventually saw Russia take control of a large share of U.S. uranium reserves. At least five people have been killed and two children injured in a shooting that began in a home and ended at an elementary school in northern California on Tuesday. The shooter was killed by police, according to local officials. At least seven victims, whose conditions have not yet been released, were admitted to the hospital. A new independent study places Pakistan among the top four countries, including Brazil, Mexico and Syria, where people have been murdered in each of the last three years for writing about sensitive subjects online.
