Ongoing clashes between Sudan’s military and a powerful paramilitary group have left thousands of residents stranded in their homes in the capital, Khartoum, including many Syrian nationals. The fighting between the military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted Saturday and continued Sunday, after months of tensions between the once-partnered sides. Pakistan has decided to send its ambassador back to Afghanistan this week, more than four months after he was pulled out because of a failed attempt on his life in Kabul by the Islamic State group, multiple official sources told VOA Sunday. U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris made an appearance at an abortion rights rally in Los Angeles on Saturday, one of a number of such rallies held around the country following recent court rulings limiting access to abortion. “When you attack the rights of women in America, you are attacking America,” Harris told the crowd. Gunmen stormed a resort in central Mexico on Saturday, killing seven people, including a 7-year-old child. Another person was wounded in the attack on the La Palma resort in the Cortazar municipality in Guanajuato state, according to officials. The motive for the attack was not immediately clear. Drug cartels, however, have been battling in the region.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida promised Sunday that his country will do everything possible to ensure the safety of the Group of Seven leaders and ministers meeting in Japan this month. “We have to make every effort to ensure security and safety ...
