The general director of Exxon Mobil Mozambique says his company needs long-term stability in Cabo Delgado province before it can think of restarting a $30 billion liquefied natural gas project in northern Mozambique. The Kenyan commander of the East African Community regional force mission in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has resigned, citing threats to his security. US Army Says 3 Dead After Apache Helicopters Collide in Alaska

U.S. Army officials say three soldiers are dead and a fourth was injured when two army Apache helicopters collided as they were returning from a training mission near Healy, Alaska, late Thursday. The two AH-64 Apache helicopters were from the 1st Attack Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, at Fort Wainwright, outside Fairbanks, Alaska. The crash occurred about 128 kilometers southwest of there. The U.S. and Philippines Friday concluded nearly three weeks of annual military drills known as Balikatan in the south Pacific Ocean near the island chain nation. In a news release, the U.S. military said nearly 18,000 soldiers from both nations took part in the drills, making them the largest in the 38-year history of the military exercises. A popular cartoonist in Uganda has launched a social media campaign to highlight the poor state of the country's health care system. #UgandaHealthExhibition on Twitter is telling stories about the poor conditions in hospitals and clinics. Uganda's Ministry of Health has disputed the allegations. Pictures of Ugandan doctors treating patients on the floors of hospitals, because of a lack of beds, have this week been circulating on social media. Cameroonian Singers Embark on Caravan for Peace

In Cameroon, hundreds of singers are using their voices to call for a cease-fire between the military and separatist forces in restive western regions. The conflict has killed thousands of people and displaced 750,000 since 2017. In the courtyard of the Yaounde city council, the singers performed songs calling for an end to the killing and destruction of property in the restive Northwest and Southwest regions. Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said Friday 38 Chinese fighter jets and one TB-001 drone aircraft have circled the island. Nineteen of the aircraft flew across the midline that separates the island of Taiwan from mainland China, according to the ministry. The TB-001 is one of China’s largest drones. Ship Comes Under Attack Off Coast of Yemen

A vessel came under attack in the waters in the waters south of Yemen, a British maritime agency said Friday.   United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, which provides security alerts for the shipping trade, said it had received reports that the unidentified vessel came under fire in the Gulf of Aden.   UKMTO said in a statement Friday that three boats were involved in the attack and each boat had three to four people on board.   No other details were given.
