Authorities say a plane crash in a remote area of central Oregon has killed everyone on board. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says a 911 call around 7:40 p.m. Sunday reported the crash outside the city of Madras. The plane had been traveling to Idaho after departing from Aurora, Oregon, south of Portland. Authorities didn't specify the type of plane nor the number of passengers. President Joe Biden is proposing a huge tax increase on fuel used by private jets, portraying that as part of an effort to make the wealthy pay their share for services like running the nation's airspace. Florida wildlife officials say a sperm whale that became famous after beaching itself on a sandbar has died. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a statement that the whale died around 3 a.m. Monday. Police and wildlife officials began trying to free the whale from the shallow sandbar off the beach in Venice on Sunday morning. They had estimated it to be about 70 feet long. The court fight between Disney and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ appointees over control of Walt Disney World’s government won’t be decided until at least this summer, provided the two sides don’t reach a settlement beforehand.
