A hiker has died of a suspected heart attack in Utah's Zion National Park. The National Park Service said the man was found unresponsive on the West Rim Trail near Scout Lookout on Friday afternoon. Rangers performed CPR and used an automated external defibrillator to deliver electric shocks in a bid to revive him. In spite of their efforts, the man died at the scene. Authorities said the 63-year-old man was from San Diego, California. They said the cause of death is under investigation but appears to be consistent with a heart attack.

An SF human resources worker was charged in connection with a corruption scheme.

Authorities have identified two teenage boys who were fatally shot Friday by masked suspects as they and other students were leaving a Chicago high school. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as 17-year-old Monterio Williams and 16-year-old Robert Boston. They were among a group of students walking out of Innovations High School on Friday afternoon when multiple masked suspects jumped out of two cars in front of the school and opened fire on the group. Alaska Airlines has begun flying Boeing 737 Max 9 jetliners again for the first time since they were grounded after a panel blew out of the side of one of the airline’s planes. The airline says in a statement that it has completed its final inspection of their group of the aircraft. They say they resumed flying the Max 9 with a flight from Seattle to San Diego on Friday afternoon. The U.S. government has condemned the decision of Venezuela’s highest court to block the presidential candidacy of opposition leader María Corina Machado. But the Biden administration on Saturday remained noncommittal on reimposing economic sanctions against Venezuela as it has threatened to do if the government of President Nicolás Maduro fails to level the playing field before a planned election. Authorities in South Carolina are investigating the fatal shooting of a man by sheriff’s deputy. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded Friday night to a call about a disturbance and a possible assault. The sheriff's office says deputies encountered two people, and at least one had a gun. One deputy fired at one of the people, and that person was killed.
